April 1st 2012 UPDATE

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

We had a Niagara on the Lake weekend getaway.. before the Spring & Summer Crowds! Above is a picture of a church near downtown ... it was raining and I didn't get many outside pictures.

We dinned at the Hillebrand Winery Restaurant, Very good food and the wines were well matched!

We did go to a good restaurant. Hillebrand Winery Restaurant is very good, we had lunch there in the Fall and thought it was very good and deserving of a full dinner try. It measured up and you can see Cathy's Blog post about that at Culture Guru Blog

The only photo we took at canoecopia. This is me, the wiiner entry of the Red Lake Outfitters draw for a Guided Canoe Trip to Woodland Caribou Provincial Park.

I went to madison Wisconsin... why? Well the largest Canoe Symposium that I know of is held there every year. As it happens I won a fully outfitted Canoe trip to Woodland Caribou Provincial Park near Red Lake Ontario.

The map shows ... between nowhere (Winnipeg) and nowhere (Red Lake) is the Middle of Nowhere (Woodland Caribou Provincial Park)

Feb 26, 2012 - Cathy & I went for a walk today and I took my first abstract architecture shot

This is the first year that I paddle locally in February. I'm not saying this was wise, but it was fun!

SS Icebreaker is clearing a canoe Width path. An in-auspicious start to our paddle. The river was somewhat congested with ice at the begining.

Went to Algonquin Park in January for a bit of snowshoeing and relaxation

We were staying about 300 meters from where a pack of wolves took down a deer late in the afternoon, we made it out to the site the next morning and there was nothing left ... except some blook on the snow.

We inspect what's left from yesterday's deer kill. Nature is efficient! Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

This was a snowshoe / ski trip with the canoe club, in the picture below we were confused by the sign :)

This is how to confuse a canoeist in winter :) Cathy & Joanne enjoy the view... and they worked hard to get here

Even Cathy went :o

New Years Day 2012 - Starting off the New Year with a paddle down the Grand River. Except for the rain it was nice!

I know it's December! But I just bought a new boat and the rain has swollen the rivers.... so I went out for a couple of paddles!

Recently Visited Utah (yes... Utah!), Arizona, and Las Vegas

Here's a longer more wordy version of our vacation

Hiking through dry creek beds in Zion National Park in Utah was the highlight of my trip!

Zion has a wide variety of hikes, this is a view down into the valley that we got by hiking a fair ways up!

Then Sedona (Arizona), a very pretty little town where we enjoyed a sunset Jeep Tour into the desert

More views of Sedona

Then went went to the Grand Canyon - it lived up to expectations!

We stuck around for the sunset and were rewarded with a Full Moon rising!

We drove along what's left of Route 66. We interesting little towns like Seligman (pics above)

Then by the Hoover Dam and our final destination Las Vegas where we Cirque du Soleil's Beatle inspired "Love".

Cattaraugus Creek in Upstate New York - My favourite place to paddle!!

The first sign of Spring: the vine climbing the trunks of the maple/poplar have begun to turn red.... adds a nice accent color! Another example of Micro-Falls in excess of two hundred feet in heigth!

This is the confluence of Cattaraugus Creek and South Cattaraugus Creek.

Petawawa River - a classic Ontario whitewater canoe trip!

We had a nice paddle down the Petawawa River. It only rained at night

The Bayfield is such a nice river... It makes paddling in the snow worth it!
Warmth is a relative thing!
A much warmer spring paddle on the Black River near Washago. I can't wait to do this river again!

Christmas 2010: We travelled to Timmins to spend the holidays with family. Everybody is well and we had a jolly old time. I put my new camera to use, here are few pictures and videos.
