The same pictures below are available in full resolution in the Picasa Web Album (Clic on Colored text)

They like Tourist... apparently nice & tasty :-)

Arenal Volcanoe near Fortuna, definitely a recomended visit!

The first picture of Arenal in eruption was purchased

.. but I took the second picture!

It's not as dramatic but kinda cool for

a tourist picture.

We saw a lot of wildlife - here are a few pictures (I took over 1000 pictures in Costa Rica)

Does She Know?

Many of the wildlife pictures were taken During our Stay at the Jungle Lodge. All the walkways were raise so that we would be less likely to encounter unwanted Jungle critters.

To get to the lodge we had to travel 2 hours by bus on a rutted dirt road with 2 police vehicle as escorts. Then a 2 hours boat ride to the village of Tortuguero (no cars here see below for the picture of Tortuguero Main Street)

We spent many hours on these rivers in our close encounters with the local flora & Fauna.

this is not the boat we travelled to lodge in

Iguanas are all over the place!

You know the Beach with the giant turtles you see on National Geographics... It's the beach at Tortuguero. Each year between April & June the giant Greenback Turtles come back to lay their eggs. If you visit during the right season you can take walks on the beach to see these giants.

We were not in Season.. the picture on the right is a model.

The beach below is real.

Monkeys... lots & lots of monkeys!

Howler Monkeys!

These guys would jump on our huts at the crack of dawn and make this incredible loud howling sound, I would've sworn that they were 15 feet tall (5 meters) by the Screeching they would generate. Come to think of it, I did swear when they woke me up at 5am.

They are in fact 2 feet tall and weigh about 7 pounds. I took these pictures just outside my jungle cabin at 5 am.

There are other monkey... but they aren't as rude

These are Spiderl monkeys

and the very intelligent White Face Monkey.

I think the highlight of our boat tours was the Blond Howler Monkey.

If the guide was not misleading the guilible tourist, this is the only known example of a blond Howler Monkey.

If this is true and we saw him in the wild (I took this picture) that is almost unbelievable. I google "Blond Howler Monkey Costa Rica" and came up with few articles but I could not find a picture. Fortunately I did manage to get my own picture of this unique natural wonder.

It was a great trip, but I don't feel the need to fly south every winter.
