2008: The Year in Television

Queer as Folk List. I hope to expand this, but thought I'd post the start now, which features my picks for the best episodes, dumbest storylines, and favourite characters.

Life with PVR: One less reason to leave the couch (15 January 2005): The good, the bad, and the ugly of having all your favourite programs recorded on demand...

Lenair's Buffy List (May 25, 2003): My round-up of the best episodes, the sexiest scenes, the unanswered questions that trouble me still — a round-up of just some of the things that made Buffy the Vampire Slayer one of the best television series ever.

Report from the 32nd Popular Culture Association Annual Conference (March 13-16, 2002): Dateline Toronto: What do academics talk about when they get together? Movies they've seen, TV shows they've watched, books they've read. Just like you and me — well, sort of...

Everything I Know, I Learned from Buffy (September 19, 2001): What's a dedicated STC member to do when meetings move to Tuesdays — Buffy night! (Try to convince more STC members to watch it, of course.)

Television series on DVD

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 2 — The little fantasy show that could matures into a fine (yet still funny) drama.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 4 — Buffy, Willow, and Oz go off to college and get intangled with the military-funded Initiative. Riley Finn and Spike become new regulars.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 5 — Buffy suddenly has a little sister, and nobody finds it odd. Amazing what those monks can do. Also Glory, Spike's infatuation with Buffy, and Joyce's farewell. The complete fifith season.

Firefly: Complete Series — Joss Whedon's short-running Western space drama, showing that he can create great characters under many different scenarios.

My So-Called Life: Complete Series — Amazing family drama starring Claire Danes and Jared Leto.

Re-release of My So-Called Life: Complete Series -- Same great drama with better picture and sound quality and tons of extras.

Queer as Folk Season 1 — Demonstrating that gay people aren't so different from straight people. (Except that they do seem to be having more fun.)

Queer as Folk Season 2 — The ongoing adventures of Brian, Justin, Michael, and the rest of the gang, with a few new cast members to shake things up.... The complete second season.
